COMM 1 ASSIGNMENT ( joinining sentences) MTH 10:30-12:00



1. The real name of Mark Twain is Samuel L. Clemens, who lived for several years in Hartford and is the author of a classic American novel entitled Huckleberry Finn. 

2.  Mark Twain's house was very elaborate and elegant in an area called Nook Farm located on Farmington Avenue where Harriet Stowe was his neighbor who wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin.

3.  Mark Twain's home has a large side porch where windows and balcony overlooked to it and when he was young, he used to pilot steamboats on the Mississippi which made people remind of a steamboat.

4.  The telephone was first used commercially in nearby New Haven and Mark Twain was one of the first three people in Hartford to own it, but because there was practically no one to talk to he never really liked this newfangled gadget.

5. Mark Twain loved industrial inventions and one of these was the elaborate Paige typesetter, but unfortunately this machine was developed at the same time as the Linotype machine which was much simpler and less expensive and made him lost a fortune in investing them.

6.  Mark Twain never felt the same about the house again after Susy, his beloved daughter died in their home due to spinal meningitis which made him left his house in Hartford and only returned once for the funeral of his friend Charles Dudley Warner.
